I rode the early train from Trondheim to Røros Mining Town excited to see this UNESCO designated site. Because the sun rises late this time of year, I dozed for part of the 2.5 hour ride succumbing to the easy sedative of a comfortable seat, dimmed lights and the smoothly rocking train –a trifecta for a tired traveler! He was just sitting doing nothing at his clean desk with only a small desk lamp to light the dark room. And, it was quiet—no radio, no TV, no computer. After a long day of travel, this was the scene we saw that evening when we walked into my 93 year old father-in-law’s assisted living apartment.
